The KF Choir Dinner Theater is a unique, exciting opportunity for student performance. A cherished tradition at Klein Forest High School, this December’s performance will mark its 38th consecutive year. Our community and parents look forward to this much anticipated event. This page should help answer some questions.
WHAT IS DINNER THEATER?
A wonderful evening of entertainment which includes a concert performance by every KFHS choir. The KFHS Commons is transformed into a performance hall with decorations based on the Dinner Theater theme, lights, sound and staging. A catered dinner is served to guests. This year, catering services will be provided by Spring Creek Barbeque.
Dinner Theater tickets are sold in advance of the night of the show and are $20.00. Reservations and payment need to be made ASAP, as this is a very popular event and tickets sell quickly. Tickets for the KF Choir's 38th Annual Dinner Theater-The Music of Motown are also available online for a small convenience fee! Please click the image above to purchase your tickets. You can still purchase your tickets the old fashion way by stopping by the KF Choir room, or sending in your order with your favorite choir student. For an order form CLICK HERE.
Seating for the performance is reserved and are within the performance space which makes for a truly interactive experience. Round tables are utilized and each table accommodates 10 guests. Tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Guests purchasing tickets on campus may select their general location for seating, but directors will assign seats, so all tables are filled. Guests purchasing tickets online may select their specific seat(s).
All students participate by singing in the show. Music is selected based on a theme chosen by the KF Choir Officers. This year’s theme is The Music of Motown. All music is selected by the directors. All choir students perform in large group numbers and small group numbers. Along with group participation, there are opportunities for solos, duets and trios. These smaller acts are auditioned and selected by the directors. All acts in the show are costumed, staged and choreographed.
Each student also helps with set-up, tear-down and decorating. Working assignments will be given to students as we get closer to the show. Because this is a concert, it is co-curricular and therefore graded and required. If a student cannot participate due to ineligibility, the director will give an alternate graded assignment.
All students must attend evening rehearsals the week of the show. Dates and times are listed on the KF Choir Master Calendar. These rehearsals are evening rehearsals. Please plan accordingly. Additional time before and/or after rehearsals will be required of students who are assigned or volunteer to work the technical side of the show.
Parents are also encouraged to get involved. There is much which needs to be done. Parents are welcome to help with decorations, set-up and tear down. If you have special talents in sound and lighting, we ask that you contact the directors. There will also be opportunities for parents to help with ticket taking, table setting and smaller jobs the night of the show. After the show, parents who can stay afterwards and help strike the set are greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your support of the Klein Forest Choir!
